There's nothing better than hitting the trail on a crisp North Carolina day, and the only thing that makes it better is having your four-legged best friend along for the journey. As the leaves start to turn and the air gets cooler, we're all looking for the perfect spots to explore with our pups.
We get asked about our favorite local trails all the time. So, we've put together a list of our top 5 dog-friendly hikes in and around the Lake Norman area that are perfect for any skill level.
A Quick Note on Trail Etiquette
Before you head out, let's be good stewards of the beautiful trails we're lucky to have. Remember to always:
Keep your dog on a leash (most parks require a 6-foot maximum).
Pack out everything you pack in, including pet waste.
Bring plenty of water for both you and your pup.
Check the specific park's regulations before you go, just in case.
Now, let's get to the trails!
1. Lake Norman State Park: The Lake Shore Trail
